Dubai Silicon Oasis to Host New AI Ready Data Centre Project
Dubai’s AI ambitions need more than software. They need serious computing power, reliable energy systems, and secure digital infrastructure that can support the next wave of artificial intelligence services.
Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority has announced a joint venture with VOLT UAE to develop an advanced AI ready data centre in Dubai Silicon Oasis. The project will be supported by Schneider Electric, which will work on electrical systems, power distribution, and smart data centre infrastructure.
The facility is planned inside Dubai Silicon Oasis, DIEZ’s specialised economic zone focused on knowledge, technology, and innovation. According to the announcement, the data centre will support advanced computing and artificial intelligence applications, while strengthening Dubai’s wider digital economy ecosystem.
The project is expected to span up to 60,000 square metres. It will be developed in two phases, starting with 29 megawatts of readily available capacity, followed by an additional 100 megawatts of committed power. DIEZ will provide land and core infrastructure, while VOLT UAE will develop, finance, construct, lease, and operate the facilities under the agreement.
Why does this matter? AI tools, cloud platforms, automation systems, and advanced digital services all depend on high capacity data centres. As demand for AI grows, countries and cities are competing to host the infrastructure behind these services, not only the apps people see on screen.
For Dubai, the project also fits into the broader direction of Dubai Silicon Oasis and the emirate’s digital economy plans. DIEZ said the data centre aligns with DSO’s expansion plans, including the AED11 billion District IO project, which is designed to support future technologies, research, development, and innovation.
The key point is simple: AI growth is becoming an infrastructure story. Data centres that can handle heavy computing workloads, reliable power, cooling, security, and continuous operations will play a central role in how the region builds and scales AI services.
